Woke up feeling pretty ordinary.

I'd received some free breakfast vouchers, so I went down to the dining room to make use of them.

The breakfast was all Chinese style. Some soups, some mini bread rolls that were like dim sum but didn't have any filling, some fried rice, some stale fruit, and some buns. The fried rice was OK, but didn't enjoy the rest.

Had to order coffee separately. Since my Chinese was bad, I ordered "Ka Fei". I wish I knew how to say Cafe Latte, because what came back was a lukewarm short black (i.e. espresso).

Went back to my room feeling a bit disappointed.

Watched some TV. Today's forecast: 23 degrees. There was also a show on the English station, CCTV 9, about an actress and singer called Zhao Wei. Her most recent movie was "Postmodern Life of My Aunt". Sounded quite good.

Got an SMS from 3 saying my phone bill for the month had reached $500. Wow!

Still wasn't feeling well, and my neck was killing me. I'd seen the hotel offered massages, so I thought I'd check it out.

Had to ask several times how to get there. I had to go to a passage way on level 4 up to level 5 in a different building. (Which explained why I couldn't find it on my level 5. Signs didn't mention the different buildings. Well, not in English anyway.)

Had what they called a European-style massage. No, not a "massage", just a back rub. ;-)

Then I went for a walk around the hotel.

Walked into every shop I could find looking for different beers. Found one selling Gillette brand old-style razors and razor blades. Since I have been trying the old style shaving out, I grabbed two.

Another little stand pointed at my Gillettes and said how much. I said nine. She pointed at her razors for four Kwai (the more common name for Yuan). Figured they were worth a shot too.

Unfortunately neither of them sold Gillette razor blades separately, but a supermarket did have some unknown Chinese razor blades, so I got some of those.

Went to Ajisen Ramen for lunch. Had a nice, hot, moderately spicy beef, mushroom, and noodle soup dish. Ordered an "Asahi", but saying just that, but somehow they didn't understand me at all. Tried to say "Asahi Pi", pi being the Chinese word for beer, but that didn't help either. :-(

Booked a Terracotta Army tour ticket at the tour company inside the hotel foyer, and went back to my room hoping to sleep off the cold.
